Mitzi L. Brown is a full time equity member of Canada Lewis where she specializes in business and franchise law. From 2020-2025, she worked with Canada Lewis as “of counsel” as needed.  She has been practicing law for over 25 years as inhouse counsel and therefore knows what it means to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of our business clients.

Mitzi also continues to serve as Chief Legal Officer and Vice President of Business Development for BRIX Holdings, LLC, a Dallas-based multi-brand franchising company specializing in chains with superior products and attractive growth prospects. The current BRIX Holdings portfolio includes Friendly’s, Orange Leaf, Red Mango, Clean Juice, Smoothie Factory + Kitchen and Souper Salad chains.

Prior to joining BRIX Holdings in 2011, Mitzi was Vice President, Legal and Digital Content for Blockbuster Inc., in Dallas, Texas, where she was responsible for entertainment and film studio negotiations including revenue sharing and acquisition agreements for both physical and digital content, video game revenue sharing and acquisition agreements and all other general merchandise legal matters for Blockbuster Inc. as well as Blockbuster Canada Co. During her 14-year tenure at Blockbuster, Mitzi also served as an Associate General Counsel responsible for all legal matters pertaining to content, intellectual property and business development/strategic initiatives as well as supporting the marketing, advertising, corporate communications, national corporate sponsorship and product departments.

About Mitzi

Mitzi is a member of the Texas Bar Association and Florida Bar Association, and is a past member of the Dallas Bar Association and the American Bar Association, Attorneys Serving the Community and Associate of Corporate Counsel. She has been past Chair for the Sports & Entertainment Section of the Dallas Bar Association and for the Sports & Entertainment Law Section of the Texas Bar Association. Mitzi was the recipient of the 2024 DCEO Corporate Counsel Awards 2024 for General Counsel, Community Service.

Since 2016, Mitzi has served on the Board of Directors for Patriot Paws Services Dogs, a 501c(3) organization that trains and provides service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American Veterans and others with mobile disabilities and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Since 2018, she has served as the Chairman of the Board.

Mitzi graduated magna cum laude from Florida State University with a bachelor of sciences in Political Science and a minor in Business and received her law degree with honors from Florida State University College of Law.
